Many people have been waiting for a few years now for the contract with Apple and AT&T to end. AT&T has significantly grew since they locked the iPhone in back in 2007.  AT&T knows that the partnership with Apple will inevitable end and they believe that wireless providers in America will come down to network quality. The Apple AT&T contract is expected to expire at the end of next year. 

The news that the contract will be ending is hitting Wall Street, Pali Research has issued a sell advisement on AT&T, and at the same time they issued a buy order on Verizon who is believed to be picking up the iPhone on its network. Many AT&T customers have been very disappointed in the wireless service AT&T has offered them. Many customers have reported dropped calls, poor data speeds, and one of the biggest things came with the release of the iPhone 3Gs, when AT&T did not have MMS and tethering available for the iPhone. Apple currently holds 91% percent of the smartphone market.

I like many people will be very happy to see the iPhone with different wireless carriers. I believe once this happens Apples hold on the smartphone market will increase even more. I want to get an iPhone very bad but have been waiting till my contract with Sprint expires and it looks like waiting my have been a good thing because now I will not have to go with AT&T.
